About Us

The Chagrin Valley Recreation Center, known around town as “The Rec,” opened in 1937 as the community’s first public pool.  Since its inception, the Rec has been open to everyone in the Chagrin Valley – it’s a true community organization. The Rec is a nonprofit organization funded 100% by member dues and a small fundraising program and is managed by a team of volunteer council members. Unlike other local pools, it receives no funding from the Village of Chagrin Falls or the school district.

The Rec offers three swimming pools from a zero-depth entry pool for its youngest swimmers through a full-size pool with diving board and swimming lanes. It also offers five brand new tennis courts complete with pickleball lines, a basketball court, gaga pit, game room, swimming and tennis lesson programs, camps, and many unique classes and special events. These activities will contribute to the mental and physical health of the community and to its economic and social wellbeing.  The Rec is open from early June to Labor Day.

The Rec is run by a volunteer board and a small but mighty part-time staff. The Rec Board is a wonderful place to serve your community, meet like-minded servant leaders, and gain board experience. If you are interested in joining our board please email cvrcdirector@gmail.com.
