Summer staff includes summer camp counselors, a night & evening manager, lifeguards, assistant swim coaches, maintenance, concessions stand employees and swim instructors. Below is a brief overview of the requirement of the position.  For more details and scope of the position please inquire with the Director at cvrcdirector@gmail.com .  


Camp Manager:  Full Day position M-F for 7 weeks, Camp hours 8am-4pm. Education or Recreational programming skills preferred.
Responsible for the organization and implementation of Classic Rec Camp, Little Rec Camp and Tennis Camp. Help with hiring directors and counselors. Responsible for communication with attendees and families.

Classic Rec Camp Director:  Full Day position M-F, Camp hours 8am-4pm. Minimum age of 18. Educational background or previous camp experience preferred.
Responsible for the organization and daily implementation of Classic Rec Camp based on themed weeks for children in grades 1-6 for 7 weeks. Help with hiring and growth of counselors.

Little Camp Director:  Full Day position M-F, Camp hours 8:30am-12:30pm. Minimum age of 18. Educational background or previous camp experience preferred.
Responsible for the organization and daily implementation of Little Camp based on themed weeks. for children ages 3-5 for 7 weeks. Help with hiring counselors and growth of counselors.

Counselor (Little Campers & Day Camp):  1/2 and full day positions (M-F only)
Approximate shifts:
8:45 AM – 3:15 PM plus occasional days until 5 for aftercare
8:45 AM -12:45 PM
Counselors may need to be available 8-9 for before care during certain shifts

Camp Counselors assist in providing safe day camp experiences by giving guidance and direction in all activities. In some cases, they will be expected to make decisions regarding what activities campers will participate in. While doing so, Camp Counselors are expected to serve as appropriate role models for the campers in their care.


Junior Counselors
Under the supervision of the Camp Director and Camp Counselors, they assist in directing all activities. While doing so, Junior Counselors are expected to serve as appropriate role models for the children in their care. 

Must be attentive to campers, energetic and observant, have the ability to engage with children, be safety focused, willing to run, play and be active.

Fun and outgoing personalities are helpful. Camp counselors need to be caring, kind, and approachable! They need to have a positive attitude and model responsibility and respect.


TENNIS CAMP DIRECTOR or Co-DIRECTOR:  
M-F 8:45 AM -12:45 PM

Must be 18 years old. Experience playing on high school or college teams and camp experience preferred.  Plan tennis activities for Rec Tennis Camp AND Jr. Tennis camp. Oversee tennis counselors and participate in lessons. In addition, you will be responsible for communicating with parents, clean up after camp, manage the roster and create a fun environment!

TENNIS CAMP COUNSELOR: Must have tennis experience on a school team and enjoy working with kids 


Evening/weekend Manager
M-F 4-8pm/ Weekends 2-8pm
Example of some of the responsibilities:

  • Oversee closing of the rec including: Concessions, gate, locker room
  • Assist aquatics staff, concessions and gate
  • Close up registers and cash boxes
  • Monitor rec room and courts (including sports equipment)
  • Assist with laundry and light maintenance as needed

Lifeguards

Shifts will vary between 7am-8pm daily

Certification Requirements:

  • Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, or equivalent
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent
  • American Red Cross Standard First Aid, or equivalent

Job Duties:

  • Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
  • Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
  • Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.
  • Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
  • Supervises and assists in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment, assists with chlorine residual water tests and with records and charts of water tests and records of accidents, and adds chemicals to pool water as directed.
  • Instructs or assists classes in fundamentals of swimming as needed.
  • Resolves scheduling conflicts to ensure a safe pool environment when competing programs/priorities require use of aquatic facilities.

Swim Instructor
M-TH 9-11am, Fridays occasionally
Example of some of the responsibilities:

  • Teaching swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities.
  • Assisting more experienced swimmers to enhance their swimming abilities.
  • Assessing the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly.
  • Monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Implementing ground rules for each swim session.
  • Planning swimming lessons that take into account students’ abilities and progressive development.
  • Identifying incorrect swimming techniques and correcting students accordingly.
  • Ensuring that the swimming pool and locker rooms are kept clean and tidy.

    Qualifications:
  • CPR and First-required
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) certifications-recommended
  • Lifeguard Certification-recommended
  • Sound knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules.
  • Strong swimming abilities.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic

Concessions
Approximate shifts: 10am-2pm daily, 2-6pm daily
Example of some of the responsibilities:

  • Keep the concessions area, microwave and prep surfaces clean
  • Restock concession items as needed
  • Learn opening and closing procedures
  • Learn how to operate cash register, add snack totals, make change
  • Help with maintenance tasks

MAINTENANCE : 2 positions available, plus subs
Approximate shifts: M-F 7am-1pm, M-F 3-6pm
Example of some of the responsibilities:

  • General cleaning (locker rooms and rec room facilities)
  • Use outdoor equipment (lawn mower, trimmer, leaf blower, etc)
  • Weeding, watering outdoor planters
  • General help around the rec
  • Fix items when necessary
  • Ability to stay busy doing anything to keep the rec safe and clean
