SWIMMING LESSONS
Our swimming lessons support swimmers of all ages and skill levels through fun and friendly group-based pool instruction.
 
Remember to add/register all of your individual family members to your account FIRST, then register for camps and other classes.


The CVRC swimming program is specifically designed for the Rec swimming facilities. Sessions are three weeks of classes Mon – Thurs, 30 minutes in length. Fridays will be used for inclement weather on other days. A class may be canceled if fewer than six students are registered.

2026 Sessions:

Session A: June 8–19
Session B: June 22–July 3
Session C: July 6–17
Session D: July 20–July 31

Includes 8 lessons along with flexibility to move to next level during the current session.

LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS & SESSION DATES

Water Exploration:

Pre-Level 1 

Typical Ages: 2 to 4 years

Class length: 30 Minutes 
Sessions A, B, and C: 11–11:30 am
Session D: 9–9:30 am

Class Location: Shallow end of the middle pool. 

Description: Parent-involved instructor-led introduction to group lessons. The goal is to build confidence in new swimmers and trust between them and an instructor to more effectively progress in further lessons. Class activities include assisted floats, blowing bubbles, entering/exiting the pool, and various games. 

Completion Requirements: Comfortable with an instructor when attempting to float (assisted) and blowing bubbles.

Level 1

Typical Ages: 3 to 5 years 

Class length: 30 Minutes
Sessions A, B, and C: 9:50–10:20 am -AND- 10:25–10:55 am
Session D: 9:30–10 am

Class Location: Shallow end of the middle pool. 

Description: Instructor-led group lessons for the progression of water exploration. Swimmers will work on further submerging their heads, assisted floating and be introduced to kicking with an assistance device.   

Completion Requirements: Submerge the whole head, and float on front and back (assisted)


Introduction to Strokes:

Level 2

Typical Ages: 4 to 6 years

Class length: 30 Minutes 
Sessions A, B, and C: 9:50–10:20 am -AND- 10:25–10:55 am -AND- 11–11:30 am
Session D: 9:30-10 am

Class Location: Middle of middle pool 

Description: Instructor-led introduction to swimming strokes. Swimmers will develop skills such as kicking and arm movements for front crawl, elementary backstroke, and breaststroke. 

Completion Requirements: Must show forward progression in front crawl and elementary backstroke movements, submerge head and push off the wall (front glide), and float independently.  

Level 3

Typical Ages: 5 to 7 years

Class length: 30 Minutes 

Sessions A, B, and C: 9:10–9:40 am -AND- 10:25–10:55 am
Session D: 9:30–10 am

Class Location: Deep end of the middle pool 

Description: Swimmers will continue to develop front crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and backstroke, continuing the use of glides. Further, swimmers will be introduced to the big pool and treading water. 

Completion Requirements: Front crawl and elementary backstroke the width of the middle pool, tread water for one minute.

Level 3+

Typical Ages: 6 to 8 years 

Class length: 30 minutes
Sessions A, B, and C: 10:30–11 am -AND- 10:25–10:55 am
Session D: 10:10–10:40 am

Class Location: Shallow end of big pool

Description: Swimmers will be introduced to rotary breathing to advance their freestyle swimming. Furthermore, continue to develop breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and backstroke. In addition, dives will be introduced, and treading will be developed.  

Completion Requirements: Proficient in freestyle (rotary breathing), breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and streamline kicking on their backs, tread water for two minutes, sit/kneeling dive.


Stroke Refinement:

Level 4

Typical Ages: 7 to 10 years

Class length: 30 minutes 
Sessions A, B, and C: 10–10:30 am -AND- 11–11:30 am
Session D: 10:10–10:40 am

Class Location: Lane in big pool

Description: Already able swimmers will continue to expand on, and practice learned strokes. Including freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke, with an introduction to butterfly. Dives will progress to standing. 

Completion Requirements: Lap of freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke, tread for three minutes, standing dive. 

Level 5

Typical Ages: 8 to 12 years 

Class length: 30 minutes 
Session A, B, and C: 10:35–11:05 am
Session D: 10:10–10:40 am

Class Location: Lane in the big pool 

Description: Advanced swimmers will continue to progress with learned strokes (freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, elementary backstroke) and butterfly, and will be introduced to open turns. 

Completion Requirements: Lap of learned strokes, butterfly, demonstration of proper open turn, tread for four minutes.

Level 6

Typical Ages: 8 to 12 years 

Class length: 30 minutes 
Session A, B, and C: 10–10:30 am
Session D: 10:10–10:40 am

Class Location: Lane in the big pool

Description: Consists heavily of lap swimming. Learned strokes will be practiced, butterfly and sidestroke will be developed, and flip turns will be introduced. 

Completion Requirements: Lap of all strokes, proper open and flip turn demonstration, standing dives, shallow racing start, tread for five minutes plus. 


Private Swim Lessons

Online registration is not available for private swim lessons, so please email cvrcdirector@gmail.com to sign up.

30 minute one on one swim lessons are offered on a limited basis for $25 member/$30 non-member, subject to instructor and pool availability.
Package of 5: $120 member/$150 non-member
