The Rec partnership with Classroom Antics is in its 4th year, bringing state-of-the-art tech education and fun to the Chagrin Valley. Eight different camps are offered during a single week in either the morning or afternoon – choose a single camp or pick two for a full-day in this creative learning environment. Dates: August 6 – 10, M-FSessions: 9 am-12 pm or 1-4 pmLocation: Federated Church, 76 Bell Street, Chagrin Falls (use back entrance)Campers that sign up for both a morning and an afternoon camp can bring a bag lunch and stay for a lunch hour supervised by the course instructors (noon-1pm). Parents must accompany kids in and out of the building; kids age 10 or older are allowed to sign themselves in and out of camp to walk home or to the pool if a parent provides a signed permission form to Classroom Antics. That permission form will be available on the first day of camp from the on-site Camp Manager.

Ages 7-99am - 12pm
Kids can bring their LEGO creations to life by learning how to code action and sound into their LEGO builds. This camp teaches them how to apply engineering principles as they build animal-themed robots with LEGO WeDo technology, code using visual programming, and gain an understanding of environmental science. Kids construct and program LEGO robots to move with motors, react with sensors, and emit sounds. LEGO robots remain at camp; pictures of robots and LEGO creations are sent home.
VIDEO GAME DESIGN: LEVEL UP!
Ages 7-9 1pm - 4pm
Kids turn screen time into learning by creating their own #D video games! They will design video games with exciting challenges, innovative gameplay, and fun characters using Kodu from Microsoft. Campers will play each other's games offering compliments, suggestions and encouragement along the way. Video games created in this camp are playable on Windows computers and will be sent home on a complimentary USB drive.
Ages 9-14 9am-12pm
Lights, Camera, LEGO! Kids learn all about the excitement of making movies by producing multiple stop-motion animation videos using Eclipse video-capture software, a high-definition webcam, LEGO bricks, and minifigures. They express their creativity by developing their own stories, characters, and backgrounds then turning them into a stop-motion animation using the latest in video capture technology. The videos produced will be sent home on a complimentary USB drive to share on Windows or Mac computers.
Programming: Creative Coders
Ages 9-14 1pm - 4pm
Turn your child’s creativity into code as they create multiple fun and interactive software programs! Kids will create interactive games, as well as musical and artistic software programs with Scratch’s visual programming language using if-then statements, loops, variables, and subroutines. Programs created in camp will be saved on a complimentary USB drive to take home.
NEW 2018! Video Production: TubeStars
Ages 9-14 1 pm-4 pmKids will learn the best way to frame and shoot video, edit videos, and create customized title screens. They will create videos in popular genres, including tutorial videos, gaming videos, unboxing videos and more. Videos will be saved on a complimentary USB drive to take home. Note: Students will be shown how to upload videos to a YouTube channel; however, videos must be uploaded at home with parent supervision, per YouTube’s guidelines.
Ages 10-14 9 am-12 pm
Kids will become leaders as they build and program LEGO Robots to think, move and react to solve various engineering challenges. They will use dedicated laptops and LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robotics kits to learn aspects of engineering, automation, problem-solving, and programming that will allow them to complete innovative challenges. LEGO robots remain at camp; pictures of robots and LEGO creations will be sent home. Video Game Design: Arcade Generation Ages 10-141 pm - 4 pm Design numerous types of video games by applying the key game development skills of character development, environment creation, and innovative gameplay with GameMaker software. Kids will learn the full process of creating a video game, including developing characters and rooms and adding backgrounds, music and sound effects. They are provided access to a copy of GameMaker software and graphics and music files to continue to develop the video games they make in camp and create new ones. For kids who love Minecraft and want to design and program new ideas into their worlds. This camp teaches kids how to code with a block-based visual programming language inside MinecraftEdu using if-then and while-do statements, variables, and loops. With these tools, they’ll automate processes inside the game, such as farming and mining. Redstone will be used to create circuits and switches to control objects. Kids customize their tools and weapons to rule the world!
