Rec Classic Day Camp Director- Job Overview:
As the Camp Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing the overall camp experience for children in grades 1-6. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a genuine passion for creating a positive and enriching environment for young campers. Camp Director reports to Camp Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development:
- Design and implement a well-rounded and age-appropriate camp program for children in grades 1-6 based on themed weeks.
- Incorporate educational and recreational activities to promote personal growth and skill development.
- Staff Leadership:
- Lead a team of camp counselors and support staff.
- Foster a positive and inclusive camp culture through effective communication and leadership.
- Provide guidance and support to staff in delivering a high-quality camp experience.
- Camper Engagement:
- Ensure the well-being, safety, and engagement of all campers.
- Develop and implement strategies to encourage camper participation and positive social interactions.
- Address and resolve any concerns or issues raised by campers and their parents.
- Logistics and Operations:
- Help Camp Manager with daily camp operations, including scheduling and logistics.
- Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure a secure camp environment.
- Communication and Outreach:
- Maintain clear and open communication with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate within team meetings.
- Act as the primary point of contact for inquiries and feedback related to the camp program.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in camp leadership or a related role.
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate programming.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

- Help recruit, train, and lead a team of camp counselors and support staff specialized in early childhood education.
- Provide guidance and support to staff in creating a safe and supportive environment for young campers.
- Parent and Guardian Engagement:
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on camp activities and their child’s progress.
- Safety and Well-being:
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, including health and hygiene standards.
- Ensure the well-being and happiness of all campers, addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
- Logistics and Operations:
- Help Camp Manager with daily camp operations, including scheduling, logistics, and facility management.
- Collaborate within team meetings.
Qualifications:
